What is Pentecost?

Pentecost, celebrated on the fiftieth day after Easter, commemorates the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles in Jerusalem. This has come to be known as the birthday of the Church. We celebrate in many ways. In addition to our celebration service, at Tillman UMC, we will wear red and have a birthday cake and Lemonade on the Lawn after the service on Sunday May 27th.

The image of the tongues of fire that symbolizes the Holy Spirit inspired the United Methodist cross and flame emblem.
