Tillman's Expanding Area Missions

At Tillman we are committed to reaching out to our community and spreading God's love through our deeds. Our goal is to strengthen the community while reminding others that the Holy Spirit works in us all. Our TEAM currently has three parts. T.E.A.M. Brown

TEAM Brown is in full swing. Some of us are with new teachers and all with new students. It is great to be helping new kids and seeing the appreciation on the kids and teachers faces. It is easy to see why this is such a valuable mission. If you are looking for an interactive way to get involved in our local community and really make a difference this could be a perfect fit for you. For the past several months I have been having a very rewarding experience helping Ms. McLain with 3^rd grade math and reading at Brown Elementary.  The kids love to read for me one-on-one,  and then for a bonus we play games that build their multiplication skills.  I can tell the kids really enjoy the attention they get and that it helps Ms. McLain a lot.  I highly recommend helping like this to anyone with a little free time and looking for something to do to help our kids and community.   Larry Britt, retired 

I really enjoy the time I spend in Mrs. Cooley's 5th grade class. When I asked Mrs. Cooley when she needed help most she said it was during math. So we figured out the day and time that worked best for both of us and it works out really well. I am able to give extra help to those who need it and Mrs. Cooley can keep teaching the others. It is a great feeling to know that not only am I helping the children in the class, but supporting the teacher. Our teachers are such a precious resource. Anything we can do to support them and make their jobs easier and better will make our community a better place to be. I am so glad I joined TEAM Brown. Daniella Davis 

T.E.A.M. MUST ... Tillman has been supporting our local MUST organizations for many years. Now we are taking it to the next level. We are organizing a missions team to work directly with our Smyrna area MUST. We feel deeply connected to our local community and building a strong relationship with Smyrna MUST is logical and heart-felt progression.

While we have consistently provided goods for the food pantry, we have decided to dedicate our efforts to providing a specific item that is needed and lacking in surplus. Our goal will be to supply the Smyrna MUST pantry with canned meats. Protein is an important part of every diet and meats are so hard to come by when your primary source of food is a food pantry. Help us provide this much needed item to the pantry. Below is a list of some suggested items.

• Beef Stew
• Spam
• Ham
• Tuna and other canned fish

We will continue to provide a bi-monthly meal to Elizabeth Inn at Marietta MUST on the 18th of every other month. If you are interested in helping to prepare or serve this much needed meal, which is as much a blessing to those who serve as it is to those who receive, contact the church office.
